Sugar Nellie Challenge

Can't believe it is four years since I was last on blogger.  Have only been making a few family cards for Birthdays and Christmas and never got round to having free time to post them or to follow blogs etc.

Life has just been busy with family and sometimes crafting and other things have to take a back seat. Hopefully I can get back to some sort of crafting and post regularly again.

I am entering my card into the sugar nellie challenge which is anything goes #136

I made this card recently for my niece Lydia's fifth birthday and funny enough the last card I posted was for her first birthday.

Images - Cherry Pip and Jelly Pip
Coloured with Distress Inks
Papers - Echo Park - So Happy Together
Cardblank - Hunkydory Shutter Card

If you have visited my blog - thank you and any comments are appreciated x

Sugar Bowl # 76, Truly Scrumptious # 72 and Sugar Nellie (Facebook)

Loved the colour combination on the Sugar Nellie challenge on Facebook this week, so thought I would combine it with The Sugar Bowl Challenge too.

This was a very quick card and I am really pleased as I eventually tried paper piecing.  Took me long enough to try it and now I can't wait to try it again.  I paper pieced the dress but made a mistake, I cut off the little bits at the tights by mistake.  I coloured it hoping you wouldn't notice but it is slightly lighter and my eldest daughter suggested it could act like a petticoat. A suggestion from a daughter who doesn't like crafting.  Maybe I am winning her over.

I am entering my card into three challenges :-

Sugar Bowl # 76 - Follow Sketch with optional theme of paper piecing
Truly Scrumptious # 72 - Something Forgotten (Image) - (second entry)
Sugar Nellie - Facebook - Orange and Green

I ran out of pearls for the inside but I think it works ol.

Cardblank - Craftwork Cards
Cardstock - Paper Mill
Patterned Paper - Echo Park
Image - Sugar Nellie
Colour with Distress Inks
Woodware Flower Punch
Pearls and Ribbon - Mei Flower

Internet still playing up, just takes a lot longer to access everything.  More frustrating than anything.

Thanks for popping by, your comments are always appreciated.

Sugar Bowl # 75, Moving Along With The Times # 123, Winter Wonderland, Papertake Weekly, Flutter By Wednesday # 186, My Mum's Craft Shop # 40, Sugar Nellie (Facebook)

Finally got a chance to do some crafting.  Have eventually given in and purchased this image from Sugar Nellie.  Not really a lover of fairies but everytime I saw a card made with this image, I fell in love with it a little bit more, think it is the tomboyish style to it and now I love it. Although my cutting out isn't great, I can't wait to ink it again.

I am entering my card into seven challenges : -

Sugar Bowl # 75 - Follow Sketch (this is the top part of my card)
Moving Along With The Times # 123 - Things With Wings
Papertake Weekly - Buttons, Bows, Bling and Blooms (gems and glitter for bling and flower for blooms)
Flutter By Wednesday # 186 - Open theme with fairy, butterfly or angel
My Mum's Craft Shop # 40 - Favourite Colour Combo - I do love blue and green together
Winter Wonderland - An Easel Card
Sugar Nellie on Facebook - Blue, Green and White (just joined and entered for first time)

Coloured with Distress Inks
Gems - Mei Flower

Sentiments - Molly Blooms - free with magazine

Apologies for not being around much lately to comment, have now got caught up until Thursday.  Shannon and Sophie both had days off for their schools open nights for transfer pupils and Leslie has been off for about a week with the bug that Shannon and Hollie had over Christmas.

Will be round later to catch up all on your creations. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Sugar Bowl # 72 and Simon Says Stamp

Quick post as doing homework with Hollie and then out to Girls Brigade.  Looks like McDonalds for tea.

Sentiment - Lily of the Valley

Gems - Mei Flower

Didn't get the inside finished so will upload it later.  Didn't want to miss the deadline for The Sugar Bowl.

Have ran out of the paper that I stamp my images onto and I am using a new pad that I got in Eason's, not to bad but seems to curl/bend if you use a lot of stickles.  The previous pad I used was from The Paper Mill and it was really good and cheaper. Any suggestions on paper for using with Distress Inks.

Got a lovely surprise on Monday when I went to comment on Debby's card and noticed I had won her candy.  It arrived this morning and is really gorgeous and look forward to using the stamps, ribbon and pearls.  Thanks again Debby.

Thanks for popping by and I will be round to visit your blogs later tonight after Girls Brigade.

These are some of Shannon's formal photographs from Wednesday night.  She looked beautiful and Matthew scrubbed up well too. He is our neighbour and is like a brother to the girls.  They had a great night. Thank goodness the formals are now over, can now relax and start to think about Christmas.

Thanks for popping by, your comments are always appreciated.  Off to Belfast shopping today with the girls, although not sure if we are wise as the MTV Music Awards are on Sunday night and it will be very busy.  Then again, you never know who we might spot out shopping.  Hollie has her camera with her just in case. Enjoy your weekend.

Here are photographs from Sophie's second school formal. Definitely a costly night out and she had TWO of them.  Her other formal photographs are on my previous post. Shannon's formal is on Wednesday night, so will show these hopefully over the weekend.

Had a busy house that night as all the other parents were there as well as both sets of grandparents.  The limo driver had fun trying to get to our house with so many cars parked in the street. Anyway she had a great night and she looked beautiful.

Thanks for popping by, as your comments are always appreciated.  Think I got caught up last night with all my commenting. Apologies again for not being around recently.

Second Post Tonight

While my internet is keeping working tonight, here is another card that I made for the Sugar Bowl challenge but never got entered.

Cardstock - Paper Mill
Patterned Paper - My Minds Eye
Woodware Flower Punch
Pearls - Mei Flower
Coloured with Distress Inks

Got a very stressful day ahead tomorrow.  About two weeks ago Hollie hurt her finger playing at school.  As she caught a ball her finger bent backwards.  When she came home it was slightly swollen and bruised.  We took her to our local casualty department but it was queued out the door, so we thought it best to wait as the bruising, if an x-ray was taken, might not show anything anyway. The bruising has went down and so has most of the swelling so we thought it was getting better.  However, yesterday she said is was sore again so we went back to casualty and got it x-rayed.  Her finger is broken diagonally and is not knitting together properly.  They contacted another hospital as our local one doesn't have a bone department and we have to go there tomorrow morning and possibly get her finger reset or maybe surgery. Not looking forward to it and Hollie is nervous and worried, although we haven't told her what might be happening.

Have another couple of cards to show but will post them later this week along with photos of Sophie at her two formals.  One she was invited to and then her own.

Thanks for popping by again and hope to catch up this week with everyone, internet permitting.

Sugar Bowl # 67, Truly Scrumptious # 65, A Gem of a Challenge # 29

Finally got some crafting time.

I have to apologise for the lack of posts and not being able to visit all your blogs over the past few weeks.  Life has just been really busy, getting the girls ready for school with uniforms, etc., doing hubby's bookwork and vat and then we went to Portugal from 22 Aug - 1 Sep. Then the girls went back to school the next day and it takes a week or two to get used to the routine again and get caught up with bookwork, etc.  Before we went on holiday Shannon got her 'AS' results and had her career appointment at school and this is now her last year. She is doing French, Spanish and English Literature for 'A' level.  She also turned 18 when we were on holidays. Seems like only yesterday she started P1.

Anyway onto my card :-

I am entering my card into three challenges :-

Sugar Bowl # 67 - Follow Sketch
Truly Scrumptious # 65 - Decorate the inside of your card
A Gem of a Challenge # 29 - Picture Inspiration

Cardblank - Craftwork Cards
Cardstock- Bazzill
Patterned Paper - My Minds Eye - Lime Twist
Woodware Flower Punches
Pearls - Mei flower
Doily - Sarah's Cards
Image - Sugar Nellie - Candy Pip
Coloured with Pro Markers - (couldn't get the colours with the distress inks and I had a packet of pro markers which I have never used, so tried them, but not sure.  Never liked colouring with felt tips, always preferred pencils and although it was quicker than inks, think I need to practice a lot more)
Sentiment - Free with magazine

Here are a couple of holiday photographs.  I only got a chance to look at these this evening too.

Went to Zoomarine on the Saturday for Shannon's birthday and then went to the Sand Fiesa, which was amazing, will show you those photos later.

This was taken at the promenade in front of our apartment,

These are our apartments.  They were really nice.  The one we stayed in belongs to a friend of ours and he only took possession at Christmas.  The only downside to the apartments was that there was no communal pool, so the girls didn't get to make friends.  Also as the resort, Olhao, isn't a commercialised resort they had limited wifi connections, so no facebook for the girls.  Eventually found out that the hotel beside us had a computer room and the girls were able to buy internet cards each evening. Problem solved.

Thanks for popping by and your comments are always very much appreciated.  I hope to get round this week to visit everyone and catch up with what is new.

P.S. Forgot to say that Hollie has set up her own blog although she hasn't had much time to craft either.  She had made a card for the Simon Says Stamp summer challenge and wanted to put it on a blog of her own rather than on mine.  Hopefully she will get another card made this weekend. http://holliescraftingblog.blogspot.com/

Sugar Bowl # 65, Allsorts # 114, Papertake Weekly

Just a quick post from me today.  Again not much crafting time.  Last week I was doing taxi service for the girls to go to The Milk Cup football matches (at least three each day) and then hubby was away to the World Superbikes at Silvertstone from early  Saturday until late Monday evening and I had to work in the shop for him on Saturday.

Pollycraft Monday # 97, A Gem of a Challenge # 23, Totally Gorjuss # 84, Sugar Bowl # 62, Flutter By Wednesday # 159, Stampavie # 145

Can't believe how long it is since I last made a card.  With Hollie being off at the start of the month for a week, we had a few nice days so we spent it doing some gardening.  Then I decided to sort out my craft shelves and then stamp onto white card every image that I have.  Didn't get it all finished but got most of it done apart from my wooden stamps and the freebie stamps.  Thought it would make it easier when looking for an image as I forget sometimes what I have.  Have spent the last week sorting out hall cupboards and doing more bookwork, so then this week the house can get a good cleaning before school finishes on the 30th.  Shannon finishes today as this is her last AS exam - French. Fngers crossed it goes well.

I am entering my card into six challenges :-

Pollycraft Monday # 97 - Ribbon and Flowers
A Gem of a Challenge # 23 - Bloomin Charmin (flowers and charms)
Totally Gorjuss # 84 - Flower Power
Sugar Bowl # 62 - Sketch and optional theme of summer
Flutter By Wednesday # 159 - Pink, Orange and Green plus fairy, butterfly or angel
Stampavie and More # 145 - Butterflies

Martha Stewart - Fence and Icicle Punch (turned the incicle punch the other way to look like grass, don't know if it worked)
Gems and Ribbon - Mei Flower
Butterfly Charm - The Works
Sentiment - Free with magazine

Went to my primary school reunion on Saturday night.  It covered those leaving in 1979/1980 as six people were in P7 for two years. I went with five others from my year.  We were given stickers to write our names on when we arrived and we laughed as we thought we would recognise most people.  After a while we were looking for the stickers to help us out.  Was a good night and ended up asking Shannon on Sunday to set me up on Facebook as everyone else was on it and then we could stay in touch.

Thanks for popping by, hope you all have a good weekend.

Sugar Bowl # 60

Hollie came home from school on Tuesday with a sore stomach and ended up staying off school yesterday.  When she was feeling a little better in the afternoon she played with her aqua beads and I got a chance to start this card and then finished it last night.

I am entering my card into one challenge :-

The Sugar Bowl # 60 - Sketch plus optional theme - Birthdays

I thought this image would be perfect for this challenge and knew it would be black and white and I always think red goes so well with these colours.  It is also the colours of my favourite team - Manchester United.  Like how this card turned out, which is something I don't say very often.

Cardblank - Craftwork Cards
Cardstock - Paper Mill
Patterned Papers - Echo Park
Image - Sugar Nellie
Sentiment - Pink Gem
Bunting and Cupcake images - Molly Bloom - free with magazine
Coloured with Distress Inks
Ribbon - local craft shop
Gems - Mei Flower
Martha Stewart Zig-Zag Punch
Woodware Circle Punch

Thanks for popping by, it is much appreciated as always.  Hope the weather is better were you are.  We have heavy thunderstorms, gales and it has got much colder.  Lots of fallen trees on the roads on Monday and some roofs were blown off properties too. Think we have bypassed summer and are ending for winter again.

Sugar Bowl # 58, Cute Card Thursday # 161 and Totally Gorjuss # 77

Hope everyone has had a good Easter weekend.
Shannon was working yesterday and when she came home we had a family barbecue.  Today I made our usual Easter dinner of Turkey and Ham (same as Christmas dinner) and then got a chance to make a card.  Two posts in two days better not jinx it.

I am entering my card into three challenges:-

Sugar Bowl # 58 - Follow sketch and optional theme of buttons (I rotated the sketch, hope that is ok)
Cute Card Thursday # 161 - No text (works for this challenge as I couldn't find a verse/sentiment using a butterfly/rainbow quote)
Totally Gorjuss # 77 - Bling It On (hope my paper works - it is glittery but with a 3d glossy effect - not sure it shows up really well)

Apologies for the photographs as they haven't turned out to good.

Sugar Bowl # 55, Pollycraft Monday # 84, Papertake Weekly, Simon Says Stamp

Quick post today as I really need to get my hoovering and ironing done.  Shannon has a driving lesson after school and Hollie and I have Girls Brigade tonight, so posting now in case I don't get a chance later.

I am entering my card into four challenges:-

Sugar Bowl # 55 - Erika's Sketch
Pollycraft Monday # 84 - Teen Card
Papertake Weekly - Trio Tastic - 3 of something.  I used three word frames
Simon Says Stamp - Happy Birthday - Sentiment on inside

Cardblank - Craftwork Cards
Cardstock - Paper Mill
Patterned Paper - Doodlebug
Image - Simply Sassy - Sugar Nellie
Coloured with Distress Inks
Gems from stash
Word Frames, Border Strips and Hearts - Doodlebug
Sentiment - Stampendous
Martha Stewart Punch (inside)

Found these papers and thought they would be perfect for this image but just couldn't get it to work.  That is why I used the strips and frames and it looks better but still not sure.

Anyway, my washing machine saga continues.  The engineer called yesterday morning, for the assessment, only he hadn't been told that.  Said the springs that hold the drum were broken, so he replaced them.  Thought it was a bit bouncy, so replaced the suspension.  Tried to fit the drawer after clipping the casing back together but ended up replacing the casing as well.  Then he repositioned the brushes.  Told me to be careful using the washing machine as he needed two clip on brackets to hold the springs and as they had to be ordered, I won't get them until Thursday of next week.  Told him he was having a laugh.  Fixing my machine and then more or less telling me to try not to use it.  Bet he doesn't have three children with piles of washing.  Anyway he put cable ties on and said that should hold it.  He is also going to try and get me a new lid as it was the springs that damaged it.

Well I put on my first wash and everything seemed to be going ok, so thought I would nip out quickly to the supermarket for a few things.  Checked the machine before I went out only to see the prewash button was flashing.  So cancelled the program and switched it off but it didn't clear so rung the repair line again.  Back came the engineer although I had to leave him in the house as the girls needed picked up from school.  Came back just as he was finishing and he said he needed to replace the module. This is the memory board for the machine apparently.  Told him he would have been better saying it couldn't be fixed and got me a new machine.  His reply was they don't replace the machines if it can be fixed and as my machine is 6 - 7 years old you can still get parts.  At least all it is costing me is the monthly payment of £8.19 as insurance cover, as he told me the call-out fee would be about £120.00 for a machine of this age and then the parts would be charged after that.  Knew I took that cover for a reason.  Sorry to bore you but just thought I woould let you know what happened.

Thanks for popping by and visiting.  It is much appreciated.

Sugar Bowl # 54, Allsorts Challenge # 93

Just a short post today as we are going for a girly day out shopping to Ballymena and Sophie is also bringing her friend.  Tomorrow we are finally getting to go ice-skating which Hollie is really pleased about as she has been waiting patiently since her birthday.

I am entering my card into two challenges:-

Sugar Bowl # 54 - Lilian's Sketch, also has the option of clean and simple
Allsorts Challenge Blog  # 93 - Card for a teenager (got this challenge from Alison - Thank You)

Quite dull here this morning so photographs are not too good.

Cardblank - Craftwork Cards
Cardstock - Paper Mill
Patterned Papers - Echo Park

Coloured with Distress Inks
Woodware Punches
Gems - MeiFlower

Have had this image for a while and never inked it up, so glad I finally did.

Heard last night I won the challenge at Craft Us Crazy and have won four Meljen digi's.  Although I haven't got the hang of digi's yet, some of these images are gorgeous.

Thanks very much for popping by and visiting and for any comments you leave as they are very much appreciated.  Have a good weekend.

Sugar Bowl # 52, Totally Gorjuss # 65, Flutterby Wednesday # 140, Papertake Weekly

Another card made but it is one of those that you can't put your finger on what is missing.  It just seems to be lacking something.  Maybe I choose the wrong papers or image.  Anyway, a few flowers and gems later and it seems a bit better. I have left the sentiment off as i couldn't really think of one.  Was going along the lines of - This girls got art-i-tude, but decided against it.

I am entering my card into four challenges :-

Sugar Bowl # 52 - Sketch - optional theme love (didn't use this)
Totally Gorjuss # 65 - Anything Goes
Flutterby Wednesday # 140 - Open theme just use a fairy, butterfly or angel
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes plus flowers

Thanks very much for popping by, I know it can get very busy sometimes.  Your comments are much appreciated and I would like to say thank you to Debby and Alison on their advice on the Grand Calibur.  Must check it out a bit more.  I do have the big shot and the cuttlebug (which sit on a shelf and rarely get used), it was just I liked the shaped cards that I see a few people using. I also want to say hello and thank you to Lena another new follower.

Off now to the supermarket to get a few things for the girls packed lunches and maybe nip into town before I have to start the school runs and make tea as it Girls Brigade tonight, so will be busy later.

Sugar Bowl # 50 and Winter Wonderland

Sorry I haven't been around much but things have just been very hectic with our shop flood.  Still hasn't been sorted out.  Insurance assessors have been out and told us to clear out the shop to get the builders in and they would e-mail us with a list of criteria they required.  That was on Tuesday.  Contacted them again on Thursday to be told, not to worry they would put us in temporary premises.  Then on Friday got  another phone call to say that wasn't the case.  Too many people doing the same job but don't know what the other is doing.  Unfortunately for us that is now two weeks our shop has been closed due to the shop next door flooding.  Not a great start to the year so far.

Anyway I thought I would take some time out and make a card.  I am entering my card into two challenges.  Sugar Bowl # 50 - Follow sketch with optional theme of embossing.  Was going to use my cuttlebug dots folder, eventually, but then thought it would be too much and Winter Wonderland - Theme - Let's Go Dotty.

I am also going to do the insides of all the cards I make as I make them, rather than when I need them.

Cardblank - Craftwork Cards
Cardstock - Paper Mill
Patterned Papers - Kaisercraft
Image - Sugar Nellie - Simply Sassy
Coloured with Papermania Pencils (didn't have colours to suit in my Distress Inks and most of them now need re-inked)
Gems - Mei Flower
Sentiments - Molly Blooms - Free with magazine

Thought I would upload my photographs to my new laptop and do my post and linking from it while watching the Skate-Off for Dancing on Ice.  No such luck.  My laptop wouldn't let me open more than one page at a time or let me highlight.  Ended up using our family computer to finish. Must look at the set-up manual and get it fixed.

Thanks very much for popping by.  It is very much appreciated.
Can I also say a big Thank You to my followers for their support and encouragement throughout 2010 as I am still learning and not that quickly. Hopefully 2011 will be better and I can craft more often.  Take care and I hope you have all had an enjoyable weekend.

Sugar Bowl # 47, Totally Gorjuss # 56 and Pollycraft Monday # 70

Got to make another card yesterday.  Definitely was a good weekend as I got to make three cards.  I know that doesn't seem a lot but for me that is so good.

I am entering my card into three challenges:-
Sugar Bowl # 47 - Follow Sketch with added option of ribbons and bows.  (Didn't do the option)
Totally Gorjuss # 56 - Christmas - Traditional Colours
Pollycraft Monday Challenge # 70 - A Glittery Christmas

Cardblank - Craftwork Cards
Papers - Echo Park
Image - Sugar Nellie
Coloured with Distress Inks
Stickles
Martha Stewart Punch (another of my new punches)
Sentiments - Echo Park
Brad from stash

I am really enjoying these Martha Stewart punches.  I only had the Doily Lace and it didn't always give a clean cut as it is so intricate.  These ones are just so easy to work with and I will definitely be using them more than I thought I would.

Thanks for popping by on this cold foggy frosty morning.  Off now to do the housework, well Sophie's bedroom anyway as she had her friend Chloe to stay for the wekend and you probably can imagine what her bedroom looks like.
